History Spartan Race

Born in the green and sandy mountains of Vermont thanks to Joe DeSena, a world-class adventure runner, Spartan is a state of mind.
Raw. Resistant Passionate The Spartans are not soft. The Spartans overcome obstacles. And yes, the Spartans make burpees.

Spartan is a sport, community, a philosophy, a training and nutrition program, with daily tips, a podcast, a series of books, an activity for children, training equipment, a multimedia channel, a series of NBC Sports, a magazine digital, and a timed obstacle course.

Spartan Race is innovating obstacle courses on a global scale. With more than 130 races around the world on an annual basis, we offer three core races, each one increasing the distance, the number of obstacles and the challenge difficulty. The Spartan Sprint (more than 3 miles / more than 20 obstacles), the Spartan Super (more than 8 miles / more than 25 obstacles) and the Spartan Beast (more than 12 miles / more than 30 obstacles). The competitions are plagued with distinctive obstacles: mud, barbed wire, walls, ropes and fire. Challenge yourself to complete all three and be part of the TRIFECTA tribe.

We also offer a kids’ race (½ – 1 mile), for special Spartans (runners with intellectual or developmental disabilities), and for those who are looking to work even harder, we have the Hurricane Heat (bootcamp style challenge) and the Ultra (more than 26 miles, more than 60 obstacles).

Spartan is the best obstacle course in the world. End of discussion.
